Join us on Friday 25th November from 1:30pm-3pm at Square Chapel in Halifax as we showcase our mini art exhibition.
This art project is a celebration of 250 years since Square Chapel was built. By researching the building and its history, our members and staff developed the concept of the artwork; it is two life-sized characters that represent the era from which Square Chapel was built.
Our enabler, Sue, has led on this project and members were involved in every step of the process; from contributing ideas to collaboratively creating the initial design, then drawing around members to create and cut out the shapes, reinforcing the cardboard with paper mâché and painting and decorating them to what they look like now.
Vikki, a Magpies member, said “I’ve loved being involved with this project, it’s been really interesting. It’s been a big group effort – I’ve helped with the painting on both the man and the woman props.”
At the event, there will also be a performance from our extremely talented Magpie Movers Dance Group and an opportunity to purchase some of our handmade crafts and our crafts stall (there’s lots of Christmassy bits!)
