Magpies is a charity that has been supporting adults with learning disabilities in Calderdale for over 20 years.

We pride ourselves on offering person centred care and activities to all our members, to help them to grow and live more independent and fulfilling lives.

We are currently looking for exceptional people to join team. We have vacancies in our Day Centre and on our Outreach Team including:

** Specific vacancies for male support workers (between 17.5 hours and 35 hours per week) **

** 16 to 20 hours per week post to support lady who uses a wheelchair. Must be able to drive a manual vehicle (lady’s own vehicle). Hours are flexible **

** Various fixed and flexible hours for  outreach members awaiting support **

** Full-time or part-time vacancies in our Day Centre

About the roles:

Day Centre

  • Supporting people within the centre on a 1:1 basis or in a group environment, delivering a range of activities to meet the members’ needs.
  • Forming a positive, friendly and professional relationship with the people you support.
  • Planning and delivering high quality group activities.
  • Completing paperwork and helping with support plans.

Hours: Part-time and full-time hours considered

Salary: £10.22 ph. – £ 11.04 ph.

Outreach Enabler

  • Supporting people in the community with day to day tasks and activities to meet their individual needs; such as going shopping, cooking and cleaning, joining community activities, keeping fit and healthy or enjoying social activities, such as going out for a coffee.
  • Forming a positive, friendly and professional relationship with the people you support.
  • Completing paperwork and helping with support plans.
  • Lone working within the community

Hours: Various – work to suit a flexible approach to your work life
Salary: £10.22 ph. – £ 11.04 ph.

All posts are subject to Enhanced DBS and references.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Reliable and caring
  • Flexible approach
  • Ability to use own initiative and lone work
  • Enthusiastic approach to work
  • Willingness to learn and undertake training
